Glass distortion due Friday 5/1 in Google Classroom

Glass distortion due Friday 5/1

For this assignment find a clear glass cup, vase or plastic cup(s), fill with water and place in front of your subject to get an interesting composition. If refracting what is in the glass, this works best with a plain background that can be achieved with a sheet, wall or blanket. If refracting the background through the water glasses try using wallpaper, wrapping paper, bricks or anything with a pattern. Be creative and I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

Attach your best 5 (FIVE) photos this week. (Which means you should be taking about 20)

Here's some ideas:

The first part of this video shows you a hack you can try with your phone, a ziplock bag and a colored sharpie or use clear tape over your camera phone. This same idea can be applied to a flashlight.

Portrait Critiques

“Nothing in a portrait is a matter of indifference. Gesture, grimace, clothing, decor even—all must combine to realize a character.” —Charles Baudelaire

Individual portraiture—the likeness of a single person—has long been one of the most popular forms of art. Whether as an attempt at objective or documentary truth or to express the power and prestige (or idea) of a person, individual portraits examine what it means to be human and an individual.

1) How does this image make you feel?
2) What emotion(s) do you think this image expresses?
3) Do you enjoy looking at it – is it pleasing to the eye?
