Wednesday - Thursday: Think of where you would like to base your Special Occasion speech? Did you win a Grammy? Oscar? Heisman? Asked to give a speech at a graduation? Need to give a speech at your best friend's wedding?

What do I say? Who do I thank? This speech is short for the most part, probably 45 seconds to 1 minute (MAX).
***Write from the heart. There is a VERY good chance you will be asked to present one of these speeches one day, so it is always good to have a practice!

By the end of the day on Friday: Upload your recorded special occasion speech to FlipGrid.

Welcome to the Persuasive Six Weeks!

For this speech you will pick ONE of the two persuasive platform speech topics below. Mayor of Columbus or "President of CHS". See my example video in Flipgrid! Click the link!


If you want to get elected you must explain to us three things:

1. Why should we elect you? What can you bring to this job? Are you trustworthy, honest, hard working, etc?

2. Pick a "platform" or a persuasive reason of what you can do/bring to make the community/school better.

*****Try to answer the Who (will it affect/target), What (do you plan to do); When (how long will it take), Where (everywhere, a small location), Why ( do we need it), How (do you plan to implement it). *****

--Think of movie theaters, state healthcare, off campus lunches.
--Targets (the store), "revamp" T.E.A., four day school weeks.
--Better water, no ban on weapons, no dress code.

What do YOU think we need/want and how will you make it happen. Note: These can be outlandish and completely not feasible.

You will need to click the link below to take you to your class period's Flipgrid. Record AND upload your persuasive platform speech by Thursday. The Google Doc is OPTIONAL, but you MUST upload your speech.

To successfully prepare for a job interview you must not only apply for the job (which we've done), but you must prepare a student resume that lists your accomplishments and provide a list of three minimum references of people who can vouch for your character, and create a brief cover letter that sets you apart from the crowd!

For this assignment:
*Complete the Student Resume template. Delete ALL placeholder information, and replace it with your own information.
*Come up with three references: people who can state how hard a worker, great a person you are. You can always use teachers. Do NOT use classmates or friends.
*Using the template I give you (on paper) create a cover letter for your job for your mock interview.

ALL assignments for this unit are due Friday, March 6th by the end of your class period. Use your time wisely.

Pick a historical figure born before 1950 and research them extensively.

For this speech you BECOME this person, write your speech using the pronouns I, me, our, we, etc.

You will use the two attached templates (Outline Template and Informative Speech Presentation) to plan your informative speeches. You are required to complete the Speech Outline Template (Google Doc) AND the Slideshow and turn in for a grade by Friday, February 7th
Tips:
--Remember you will write note cards to present your speech.
--Use your class time wisely. Don't goof off. You may need every day to complete.
--Don't forget to keep track of your sources and cite a minimum of two sources.
--Please read all requirements carefully. Failure to follow directions may result in a failing grade.
--DO NOT turn in this assignment until you are completely done (Outline complete and/or Slideshow complete).

Cite the four sources (and the class example) correctly and turn in.
