Terms you need to know:
M1 - money supply composed of physical currency and coin, demand deposits. The most liquid portions of the money supply.
M2 - all elements of the money supply that includes all elements of M1 as well as "near money" which is savings deposits, money market securities, mutual funds, and other time deposits - generally less liquid than M1, but can be quickly converted.
Inflation - generally an increase in prices and a fall in the purchasing value of money.
Deflation - decrease in the general price level of goods and services.
Hyperinflation - rapid inflation that quickly erodes the real value of the local currency as the prices of all goods increase.
